DESCRIPTION:Brighton’s longest running poetry night\, featuring headline performances and our legendary poetry slam. Hosted by the hilarious Leanne Shorley in the glorious Tusk Club @ The Walrus. \n\n\nDoors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. \nHOW TO SLAM: ‘Performer Tickets’ are now SOLD OUT for 7th April. If you’d like to come along as an audience member and be on the slam reserve list\, please let us know at the door on the night . Often\, a couple of slammers can’t make it\, so it’s definitely worth a go! If you are performing in the slam\, please prepare an original poem of 3 minutes or less (no music\, no props). Any style\, any theme\, anything you want! It doesn’t have to be memorised and you’re more than welcome to read from paper/your phone. \nPlease be aware the performance space is in a basement which is only accessible via a flight of stairs. DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Hammer & Tongue Brighton\, join us for an afternoon of spoken word poetry and girl power at the Fountainhead. Whether you want to share your words on the mic\, or just sit back and listen\, everyone is welcome ❤️ \nInternational Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social\, cultural\, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender equality through shining a light on persistent issues like gender-based violence and unequal access to education and opportunities. It aims to mobalize action for equality through encouraging individuals\, communities\, and organisations to take steps toward creating a more inclusive and equitable world for women. \n\n\nHOW TO PERFORM IN THE OPEN MIC: Book yourself an ‘Open Mic Performer Ticket’. Each poet will have a maximum of 4 minutes to perform.
